Social Support Groups
Centre Based Day Activity programs are held in various community venues throughout Albury and Wodonga. The Day Activity programs provide Social Support to frail older people and people with a disability. The programs are part of the Home and Community Care program.
Participants in the group have the opportunity to make new friends and spend the day enjoying a variety of entertainment, including relaxation and social activity, gentle exercise, craft, singing, games, guest speakers and outings. The programs give members of the Community the opportunity to network and develop peer support, providing an avenue to promote the maintenance of Health and Well-being. The programs are tailored towards individual and group desired outcomes. A healthy morning tea and fully cooked meal will top off a wonderful day.
Participants are referred to the programs through a doctor, physiotherapist, social worker, case manager, other professionals, relative, friend or self-referral. All are welcome in accordance with assessments and funding guidelines.
The Albury programs operate Monday, and Wednesday through to Friday between the hours of 9.30am to 3.00pm. The Wodonga program operates on Monday at the Salvation Army Hall from 9.30am to 2.00pm.
Participants can make their own arrangements for transport, or transport can be made available, if applicable for a minimal cost. There is also a nominal charge to cover the cost of morning tea and lunch. Special Dietary requirements are taken in to consideration.
Age Concern’s staff and volunteers hope you enjoy the hospitality, social interaction and friendship you make during your visits to the Albury Centre Based Social Support Groups and Wodonga Planned Activity Group
